Venues range from retro pinball halls charging hourly flat rates to modern ticket-redemption game rooms that rely on reloadable play cards. Choosing the right spot depends on whether you want classic cabinets, modern multiplayer simulators, or a full family entertainment center with food and bowling. Checking a map pin will not tell you the payment structure, game selection, or age policies during late-night hours.

Arcades near Minneapolis
Good to know
How do arcades typically charge for gameplay?
Most modern venues use reloadable play cards or wristbands loaded with credits, while retro arcades often charge a flat hourly or daily entry fee for free-play cabinets. Dedicated pinball clubs or older venues may still operate on quarters or tokens. Expect prize-redemption games to cost more per play than standard video games.
Are arcades suitable for all age groups?
During daytime hours, almost all arcades cater to kids, teenagers, and families. However, some venues transition to 21-and-over policies in the late evening, especially those with full bars or kitchen service. It is best to check venue rules if you plan an evening outing with minors.
Do I need to make reservations in advance?
Walk-ins are standard for individual play, but group bookings or party room rentals usually require advanced deposits. If you are visiting a popular family entertainment venue on a weekend, booking party packages ahead of time secures designated seating and included game cards.
